Many of my brides are choosing a colour for their bridesmaids dresses, and having their bridesmaids choose their own style of the dress. If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid – you can understand the extreme graciousness of this move! Some of my favorite dresses this year have been on J.Crew – with some really fashion forward colour choices – all, fantastic backdrops for some modern posy bouquets.
With the varying styles, it’s so important to bring some continuity to the vision. Definitely the same bouquet, but lately I’ve also noticed how great the matching pendants and earrings look – and what a great gift to your bridesmaids!
Etsy.com led me to Yolanda Pang at Poetic Designs. Turns out she’s a fellow Canadian and Paris obsessed artisan – (kindred spirit) putting together vintage inspired jewels and baubles into wearable one of a kind art. You have to take a look at her designs in her Etsy storefront. She’s totally open to custom designs for your ladies in waiting or a special commemorative occasion.

I love to call them midnight purple tulips – they are exquisite, delicate, dark beauties. They mix well with shades of purple, lavender and my favorite: green! The darkness adds wonderful dimension to a bouquet that is tonally one dimensional. One of my favorite combinations is dark schwartzwalder calla lilies mixed with the tulips of the same color.

Came across a great article in the February Issue Bride’s Magazine today: 72 Tips for a Perfect Day. Really simple pointers from some awesome wedding professionals, for the party of your lifetime. Thought I’d share the ones pertaining to the flowers and decor – and add a few of my own for you.
- Monochromatic Arrangements in simple containers are timeless, and you don’t need to spend a fortune on the vases. – Nancy Liu Chin
- Be kind to your florist and he [they] may surprise yo uwith unexpected details, and even throw in extras you didn’t pay for. – Lewis Miller, LMD New York
- Choose a venue that embodies your wedding’s aesthetic rather than trying to transform a room into something it is not. – Grayson Handy, Prudence Designs
- Align your design. If your location is soft rose pink and pale yellow, embrace a color palette that complements that combination. – Todd Fiscus, Todd Event Design Creative Services
- Rent colored linens – they will make a big impact on the look of your reception. Amy Fuerstenberg, Mi Mi Design
- A great container or vessel can be it’s own design statement – making a few awesome blooms will go a long way – find a florist that has some beautiful options available to you. – Corinne Samu Smith, panacea event floral design
- Make use of natural and organic elements that contribute to the visual impact of your overall look. Branches and willow or mood moss and grass can really pump up a centerpiece without adding significant cost. – Corinne Samu Smith, panacea event floral design

In my mail box this week – the highly anticipated CD of pics from awesome photographer RCJones. Loved working on this wedding – this coupled rocks – quite literally! Nicole is the late night voice and personality plus on Y101 in Fresno, Nik is the creative director at the station.
Unconventional with a vibe of their own that was a wonderful infusion of cool in to the usual flora that we get involved in. We were so honored to be involved in their beautiful day, hosted at the ultra cool Dolphin Bay Resort in Shell Beach. And – continuing the fabulous – we got an email from the Father of the Bride the following week telling us that the “flowers were flawless”. Note from an FOB – that’s a first in 11 years. Sweet!

In 2005 I had the life changing experience of Paris. Accompanied by two of our best friends, my husband Brian and I savored all that is this one of a kind intoxicating city. Since setting foot on the ground, I have been scheming and dreaming about my return.
In the midst of plans for our return late this coming summer, I thought it would be fun to review my favorite inspiration vein EVER. The private date at flower school was a huge fix to this addict, but subsequent meandering the streets was the slow drip that left me hooked for life. These are some of my personal pics that keep me dreaming.

Cool blue light, white dance floor, white leather, black feathers, bellini bar, hors d’ ouvers passed by fedora, black tie wear’in waiters, Cafe del Mar and CANDY BAR. Ohhh honey – that’s SWANKage! If you know me – you know, I am a color freak. I can’t wear it – but I need it, crave it and stock it in the world around me. It makes me crazy happy, silly or just plain chill. That’s what color is about.
This year, the color peeps at PANTONE (the color Gods) announced Turquoise as the color of the year. This became the design inspiration for our VIB Lounge (Very Important Bride – for those of you who know I can’t spell anything to save my soul and mix letters up and make up my own words as I please… wink!) at the Central Coast Wedding Professionals‘ 15th annual Wedding Faire this past weekend.
panacea created this wonderful blue oasis lounge this weekend with the help of a few good event companies that knocked it out of the park. Thanks for your help and expertise guys – let’s do it again real soon: Kramer Entertainment & Lighting, Epic Weddings by CateringUnlimited.com, the BoothExperience at Mike Larson Inc. Photography and the group at Taylor Rentals.
Just can’t say enough about a well orchestrated team of professionals who work together to make an amazing outcome. Love it!
Yes, the white leather lounge furniture and candy bar are services and products available to our brides for the 2010 season stay tuned for pricing, information and options soon.

Funky and wonderful bridal flowers for an ever so swank couple committed to having a wedding day that is uniquely their own – could that bring me anymore happiness? I think not! Well possibly – if one of my favorite wedding blogs picks it up and features it as a Real Wedding on their site! LA StyleUnveiled – the go to guide for all things California Wedding – we love you big time.
Again, we are honored to be a part of such a beautiful site and to work with such awesome people. Thank you to RCJones Photography in Fresno for really capturing the vibe of this day and of course our friends down at Dolphin Bay Resort for orchestrating a beautiful wedding at their stunning venue. The Lido has a very special spot in my little food & vino lov’in heart!

Red calla lilies, dahlias, cymbidium orchids and cranberry hydrangea set the flower mood for this beautiful Thanksgiving wedding celebration wedding. The dramatic fall vineyards at Robert Hall Winery were the perfect backdrop for this wonderfully fun couple.
Chloe at Mike Larson Inc. Photography sent over (actually walked them over from right next door!) some stunning pictures the other day – these are a few of my personal favorites.
