Magenta, orange and fuchsia – bright, cheery and a big celebration!
Julia and I bonded from the beginning of the planning process, over our shared Canadian roots and love for hockey. Julia’s vision was pretty simple – she shared it with me and then let me run with it. Some of my very favorite weddings are the small intimate ones, done really well. Of course, if you choose to get married at the Dolphin Bay Resort, it is a given that it will be done well. Under the direction of Chef Evan Treadwell, in 2007 Lido Restaurant was awarded Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence and Sante’s Culinary Award for “Innovative Regional Restaurant.”
A couple of really fun elements from this wedding were the little couture chocolate silk pillow that the ring bearer carried down the aisle, covered in magenta orchids. The flower girl carried a small moss ball, also adorned with orchids and a taffeta ribbon handle. For the ceremony, two large scale glass vases featuring submerged orchids and topped with large moss balls adorned with flower clusters, framed the bridal couple. The application allows for maximum enjoyment of the view, while creating a simple ceremony focal point.
One of the highlights of this day for me, was getting to spend some time in the chef’s walk-in, decorating the wedding cake that pastry chef Benny created, with blooms. The wedding was orchestrated beautifully by the event staff at Dolphin Bay, the view – incredible and a memorable party of close family and friends ensued. The Cliffs Resort in Shell Beach is one of the few full service wedding locations along our beautiful Central Coast. Offering both a ballroom option or a tented reception, couples can get married overlooking the great blue Pacific on the lush lawn, while the seasoned staff at The Cliffs, take care of every detail. It is one of our favorite venues and some of our very favorite brides have gotten married at the Cliffs – well, and I actually spent the first night of my own honeymoon there some years ago. So it is a little special to me. One of my favorite aspects about the Cliffs, in addition to the incredible view, is that I always am amazed and appreciative of the team mentality of the service staff. From the Bellmen to the Busboys, they are all there to do whatever it takes to make both guests and wedding couples completely happy – and the vendors as well.
Giuliana and Eric, breezed in from Northern California Wine Country – and had a really lovely wedding with a stunning reception in the tent on the lawn of the Cliffs. With gracious wrought iron candelabras and elegant linen, the tent was transformed into a beautiful collaboration of rustic elegance. For a little extra pizzaz, we customized a beautiful chandelier of fresh flowers, black crystal and golden organza over the dance floor. Giuliana’s bouquet was classic and elegant with robustly feminine English Garden Roses mixed with pale blush roses. Simple bouquets of antique hydrangea were carried by the bridesmaids against their midnight dresses.

It’s been a really good buzz week for panacea event floral design – one of our favorite weddings and wedding couples were showcased on in the huge featured wedding spread on the San Francisco Style Unveiled site.
We’re honored to say the least and have made some new friends in the process. Most important – this is an example of what working with an awesome group of wedding vendors can bring to your wedding.
Stay tuned – there’s more good news coming.
