We’re all about making weddings memorable and infusing your day with little “fleurishes” that are different with all of the other weddings your friends will attend this season. According to the Knot.com, 98% of brides wished they had spent more on entertainment for their wedding reception. Part of your wedding day being memorable to your guests, is looking back and remembering what an awesome time they had on your day. Often, there is a bit of uncomfortableness as guests move from the ceremony or more solemn part of the day and into the cocktail hour. Usually, this is a time when the bride and groom, wedding party and family are whisked away by the photographer for photos, while the wedding guests meander and wait for the reception to follow.

What if, there was actually something to engage your guests into interacting with each other over a cocktail or glass of champagne? Something that brought extended families and friends together, laughing, interested, interacting and creating an atmosphere of ease, setting the mood for lots of celebrating to come… Voila! The Ice Breaker and the “coolest” cocktail hour and reception that any of your guests will participate in. You have to check this out, once you’ve experienced it, you will not forget it and you’ll be thinking about it for months. A professional Ice Breaker is the guy that entertains even the guests that don’t want to join the party on the dance floor, but still want to be a part of the wedding festivities. And how fabulous will you seem to your guests – to have thought of this?
Right here in SLO town, we have an incredibly talented and internationally recognized entertainment master of magic and mental mystery. Ok, and he’s just a great guy. I’ve seen him at birthday parties and weddings and am always enthralled with the buzz and excitement his brand of “magic” brings to a crowd. Definitely check Rich out – I think his entertainment will be a huge hit on your memorable day.

Could there by anything better than a delicate cupcake with generous swirls of rich icing on top? I’ve had a great pleasure of working with Amy, of Amy Bakes Cupcakes, in the last year and half on several mutual weddings. First introduced to her decadence at my favorite little hole in the wall haunt down town – Granada Bistro (think, tiny Parisienne salon, remarkable wine list, ridiculous cheese samplings and sensational panini sandwiches). Her inspired offerings immediately grab your senses – just hearing the list of flavors can begin the salivary yearning. These are no ordinary cupcakes! Chocolate Merlot, Salted Caramel, Bumble Bee (honey & lavender) & Blackberry Port Chocolate, to name just a few of her standard flavors.
And here’s the big thing… she has perfected recipes that are vegan & gluten-free! Have party guests with dietary preferences? Recently, I hosted a sweet 16 brunch at my home for my niece who happens to have celiac disease (gluten intollerence). It has always been rough for Skylar at family celebrations, as a good dose of wheat flour is included in most sweet treats. I ordered several flavors of Amy’s small cupcakes AND lemon bars – all gluten-free. They were fantastic and my nice Skylar was completely delighted. Everyone completely enjoyed the varieties and savored each little morsel.
Definitely check out what Amy can bring to the dessert table for your next party or celebration.

So many of our brides ask us for recommendations for hair and make up. It’s a really big deal – because every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. It has been my pleasure to work with Rhonda at Bridal Hair & Make Up for several years and today I sent another bride her way. I had to go to her website to look up the information and when I did, I found a plethora of great information – and a bunch of great pictures of my brides! I love the personal attention that she provides to each bride and her vast knowledge about camera ready make up. This comes from years of experience in the TV & film industry in LA. Definitely give her a call at 805/395-0175 if you are still needing someone fabulous for your wedding day.
These are a few of our beautiful brides that have completely loved Rhonda too. Thanks to Allyson Magda Photography and David Pascolla Photography for these images.

Many of my brides are choosing a colour for their bridesmaids dresses, and having their bridesmaids choose their own style of the dress. If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid – you can understand the extreme graciousness of this move! Some of my favorite dresses this year have been on J.Crew – with some really fashion forward colour choices – all, fantastic backdrops for some modern posy bouquets.
With the varying styles, it’s so important to bring some continuity to the vision. Definitely the same bouquet, but lately I’ve also noticed how great the matching pendants and earrings look – and what a great gift to your bridesmaids!
Etsy.com led me to Yolanda Pang at Poetic Designs. Turns out she’s a fellow Canadian and Paris obsessed artisan – (kindred spirit) putting together vintage inspired jewels and baubles into wearable one of a kind art. You have to take a look at her designs in her Etsy storefront. She’s totally open to custom designs for your ladies in waiting or a special commemorative occasion.

Every once in a wonderful while – something catches my eye and I can hardly stand still with excitement. I love things a little quirky and fun and Dog N’ Bird has it all – love these finds and the featured photos are exquisite. I highly recommend you tune in to stay on top of what’s going on in wedding world – it’s a little Daily Candy meets Style Me Pretty – how could that get any better? See for yourself!
One of the fabulous ideas gathered at one great blog – Eucalyptus name cards in a a bed of moss.
