Design Tid Bit: Pin Spot LED Lighting – Because Light is EVERYTHING!

We LOVE to infuse weddings and events with stunning flowers – it’s what we’re about.  Coming up with the perfect centerpiece design concept to meet a bride’s vision is part of the whole process that we completely get excited about – and the more flowers involved – the better!  However, (hear the brakes screeching), if you walk into a dark barrel room at the most beautiful winery and can’t even see the tabletops – it won’t matter how much design time or how many intricate details are involved – you won’t see it.

Lighting can create ambiance and set the mood for sure, but more important to us, as your floral stylist, is that a great lighting company can pin spot light each table to show off your vision.  We love to sit down with the lighting designer and work out a lighting plan with high visual impact that will be an image, etched in your memory for the rest of your life.  This is about that WOW moment when you first walk in the room and see how incredible it looks – in the dark, there’s simply nothing to see.  Recently, in part due to the state of many wedding budgets, we’ve even noticed that  even simple centerpieces vastly benefit from some lighting.

Truly, this element of light can make the biggest visual impact out of anything that you do for your reception.  Of course there are, what I consider bonus elements that can really create a fun and upscale feeling to your event.  Up lighting, dance floor washes and special effect lighting can each play a part in transforming a room from nice – to ridiculously awesome!  In June, we worked with the lighting team over at Kramer Entertainment DJ’s & Event Lighting to enlighten a wedding reception in the Chai Barrel Room at the beautiful Meridian Vineyards.  Definitely one of our favorite wedding venues, we coordinated concepts with Zach, the lighting designer at Kramer Entertainment & Lighting and Laura at TOS Events, to create a beautiful and cohesive presentation.  Below are some great photos from Jill Hewston at Allyson Magda Photography.  These images represent what a great team of professionals can bring to your wedding day.

Alumni: Sarah + Jesse @ Santa Margarita Ranch 4.21.07

Happy Anniversary to one of our all time favorite couples! Since Sarah and Jesse’s beautiful day at the Mission and Santa Margarita Ranch,  a lot has happened.  Straight from our follow up files:

Sarah and Jesse have had two little angels, Mikaela (23 months) and Tate (6 months).  Sarah is a Labor & Delivery nurse at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns in San Diego where over 8000 precious bundles are delivered every year.  Sarah is an avid runner and recently ran a half marathon – she’s hooked.  Jesse is the manager at 24-Hour Fitness.  Sarah and Jesse have high hopes that their kids will attend Cal Poly so they can regularly visit the area and be active alumni.

Sarah’s favorite wedding day memories were their grand entrance announcement – “Mr. & Mrs. Lagaspi!” and their first dance to “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw as Jesse sang the words in her ear.  Wow – chills!

Thank you so much for sharing Sarah.  This makes our little contribution to weddings so worthwhile!  Thanks to Allyson Magda Photography for these wedding day photos. The images make it all real again!

Sarah wrote me a little side note that really made my day – “To this day when I talk about our wedding I always mention just how absolutely gorgeous our flowers were, and whenever people see our wedding album they always comment on how beautiful they were, too.  You are so talented, and we are so lucky that you helped make our dream wedding come to life.”

Real Wedding: Giuliana + Eric @ The Cliffs Resort 10.24.09

The Cliffs Resort in Shell Beach is one of the few full service wedding locations along our beautiful Central Coast.  Offering both a ballroom option or a tented reception, couples can get married overlooking the great blue Pacific on the lush lawn, while the seasoned staff at The Cliffs, take care of every detail.  It is one of our favorite venues and some of our very favorite brides have gotten married at the Cliffs – well, and I actually spent the first night of my own honeymoon there some years ago.  So it is a little special to me.  One of my favorite aspects about the Cliffs, in addition to the incredible view, is that I always am amazed and appreciative of the team mentality of the service staff.  From the Bellmen to the Busboys, they are all there to do whatever it takes to make both guests and wedding couples completely happy – and the vendors as well.

Giuliana and Eric, breezed in from Northern California Wine Country – and had a really lovely wedding with a stunning reception in the tent on the lawn of the Cliffs.  With gracious wrought iron candelabras and elegant linen, the tent was transformed into a beautiful collaboration of rustic elegance.  For a little extra pizzaz, we customized a beautiful chandelier of fresh flowers, black crystal and golden organza over the dance floor.  Giuliana’s bouquet was classic and elegant with robustly feminine English Garden Roses mixed with pale blush roses.  Simple bouquets of antique hydrangea were carried by the bridesmaids against their midnight dresses.

Thank you to Allyson Magda Photography for sharing these wonderful photographic memories with us.

News: More Positive Buzz! – Style Me Pretty

What a great way to start the day and week! Style Me Pretty – the be all, end all wedding style blog, has just featured one of our all time favorite weddings on their blog this morning. “I am MADLY in love with the flowers from this affair. The bridesmaids and bridal bouquets are enough to send me clear over the edge. Designed by Corinne Smith of Panacea in San Luis Obispo, they are gorgeousness defined.” Be still my heart

Allyson at Allyson Magda Photography captures the atmosphere, details and emotions of the day in a way that people just can’t resist and the industry is taking notice. It is such a complete delight and honor to work with her – and it’s like early Christmas morning – to get that precious cd of images from her after the wedding – and in this case, it is the gift that keeps on giving!

Natalie and Carson are now my official poster couple and I am so crazy happy to report that they have both found great jobs, just bought a charming house and are settling in the SLO area. So great to have them in our community long term – I adore them and their beautiful dog Ella

Check out the images and if you don’t already have Style Me Pretty bookmarked – you will after perusing through, Abby Larson is a passionate style guru of all things wedding style. Enjoy!
